Sometimes he laughs; he is eternal youth and life before sin. Next he is the giant, the knight, the savior of the day. His path is ours and stretches onward from man's emergence from, and destruction of, the natural world that is our home.
He wonders, as we all do, when fortune's wheel will turn and he will once again disappear among the trees.

The Green Man: An Art Show is a pop up art show on September 1st, during First Friday, in downtown Macon at Quill Cocktail Bar. Attendants will be entranced by a “Back to Eden” walk-through experience with vendors and more urban themed submissions on the ground level that transition towards the rooftop for a full fantasy grotto experience.
Clarkafterdark will be providing a highly curated DJ set with ethereal and healing themes. -
The Green Man is the spirit of the forest and the symbol of man’s relationship with nature. He appears across cultures and time periods from ancient to modern and is represented in literature in tales like Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Sir Gawain the Green Night, just to name a few.
The green man as is depicted in the flier is a pagan symbol that has been adapted by many cathedrals in Europe to attract pagans into Christian services. Through out time his face emerges more and more and the greenery is nothing but a background - a telling of man’s emergence, domination, and eventual destruction of the natural world.Here are some articles for further reading about the Green Man Archetype:

Artist submissions for The Green Man: An Art Show are juried and selected to be shown based on how well they capture the theme, quality of materials, interpretation, tiered pricing, and more. There is no fee to apply and artists keep 100% of sales.
Vendors will be located on the ground level and have no thematic restrictions on their inventory so long as their items fall within the vending guidelines (No Food, Delta 8, CBD, ect.) There is a $35 to register as a vendor. -
Apply to be an Artist - the show cannot go on without you! All interpretations are welcome so long as they depict man, nature, or anything in between!
Register as a Vendor - your work doesn’t fit the theme? Do you provide wearable art or a service? Register to be a part of vendor’s row TODAY and get your work in front of the First Friday crowds!
Become a Sponsor - there is no application fee and artists keep 100% of the sales from submitted works. The Green Man: An Art Show creates paid opportunities for several artists in our community and provides an outlet for your brand or business to be seen among all the patrons of First Friday in Downtown Macon!
Be a Volunteer - We need all hands on deck for crew, character volunteers, and street team! Free admission for volunteers and get a behind the scenes experience like no on else!

There is no fee to apply and artists keep 100% of sales that result from their showing. -
